Chihuahua Cerveza Leads Nationwide

El Primero, Rico, and Limon to be distributed in seven more US states

Costa Mesa, California • January 4, 2020Chihuahua Cerveza is excited to announce distribution in Oklahoma and Kansas, plans to distribute in Arkansas and New Mexico in January 2021, and distribution in Colorado, Alabama, and South Carolina by the end of Q1 2021. Chihuahua Cerveza continues as one of the fastest growing original Mexican American beer brands by teaming up with well-known beer distributors to introduce their high-quality core brands to the rest of the US; Rico (6.5 ABV), El Primero (5.0 ABV), and Limón (5.0 ABV). 

Phil Jamison, President of Chihuahua Cerveza, elaborates on the mission of Chihuahua Cerveza, “Adding these new states is part of our long-term vision to share Chihuahua Cerveza with beer lovers across the USA”. Chihuahua Cerveza Earns Gold Medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival®

Rico recognized at world’s largest professional beer competition

Costa Mesa, California • October 16, 2020Chihuahua Cerveza was awarded a gold medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, presented by the Brewers Association. The best beers in 91 beer categories covering 170 different beer styles (including all subcategories) were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals during a virtual ceremony Friday, October 16, hosted on The Brewing Network.

Chihuahua Cerveza was recognized in the other strong beer-style category for its Rico, a golden hued strong Mexican American Lager.  Its balanced malt and mild caramel character complement the lager yeast profile nicely.  Rico is brewed to be enjoyed on its own, but prominent enough in character to enhance or contrast brats and tacos alike.  Chihuahua Cerveza is a brewery headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA and expects to produce 7,500 barrels out of both California and Florida locations in 2020.  Chihuahua Cerveza prides itself in working every day to support and celebrate the innovators and trends that are shaping contemporary Mexican American culture.

“We’re very honored for Rico to be recognized by the Brewer’s Association with a gold medal. I’m happy that the hard work and collaboration of the Chihuahua Cerveza team with our partners has produced beer that makes us all proud. We also appreciate the dedication of everyone at the Brewer’s Association for helping us all to celebrate the industry’s good work during these challenging times,” said Matt Insco, Director of Brewing at Chihuahua Cerveza.

Judges for the 34th edition of the celebrated competition evaluated 8,806 entries from 1,720 breweries from all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. Socially distanced judging took place in 35 sessions over 18 days with strict safety measures in place.

“This year’s GABF competition may have looked a little different, but the beers entered into the competition were as impressive and innovative as ever,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager, Great American Beer Festival. “This has arguably been one of the most challenging years breweries have ever faced, so we hope these awards serve as a symbol not only of brewing excellence but also the resiliency of the craft brewing community as a whole.”

Sells “F COVID 19” T-Shirt to Raise Money for Impacted U.S. Restaurant Workers 

COSTA MESA, CA (April 28, 2020): 

The National Restaurant Association stated this week that 8 million restaurant workers in the U.S. have already lost their jobs due to COVID-19.  In the face of the COVID-19 economic crisis, these workers are in dire need of financial support.  

Chihuahua Cerveza is offering relief through the sale of a custom designed “F COVID 19” T-shirt available on their website:  Chihuahuacerveza.com/store.  All profits from the sale of these t-shirts will be donated to the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Employee Relief Fund

Phil Jamison, Chihuahua Cerveza President, has first-hand knowledge of the impact of COVID-19 because Chihuahua functions as a restaurant & taproom.  Having seen how closures have businesses and employees struggling, he decided to design a T-shirt as a fundraising effort.  “Even though this is a small gesture in the big scheme of things, we felt it was important to raise a few dollars and offer some much-needed levity to uplift spirits” Jamison said.  “We know that people are struggling now, but we are hopeful that we’ll soon be able to gather with our family and friends at our favorite restaurants sharing good food and a few good beers.”

ABOUT THE RESTAURANT EMPLOYEE RELIEF FUND

The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund was created to help restaurant industry employees experiencing extraordinary hardship in the wake of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. Through this Fund, grants will be made to restaurant industry employees who have been impacted by COVID-19, including a decrease in wages or loss of employment. This Fund is operated by the NRAEF (www.chooserestaurants.org).
